Bell Aliant TV Cable Set Ups
Video
Cables: S Video
and HDMI |
You may have a recordable DVD linking your Motorola Set Top Box and TV for recording purposes. What follows is a cabling set up where:
What you need to know before you start |
1. Composite cables are alternately known as RCA. DVD/R is the abbreviated form used to refer to recordable DVD players.
2. Be mindful of Inputs and Outputs: This cabling set up involves Composite and S Video cables feeding into your DVD/R for audio and video. Your DVD/R may have both Input and Output ports for S Video and Composite that look the same. Make sure to look for In or Out labels before attaching cables.
3. Can this set up work for a VCR or DVD player? This cable set up would require the VCR or DVD player to have inputs for S Video and Composite and an outputs for HDMI cable, which is highly unlikely. VCRs and DVD players typically do not have same type or number of inputs and outputs seen on DVD/R's.
Follow these easy steps |
S Video Cable
1. Locate the S video cable in the above diagram.
Attach one end of the S video cable to the S Video port on the back of your Motorola Set Top Box.
Attach other end to the S Video port on back of the DVD/R.
Composite Cable
2. Composite Cable is pictured in red and white in the above diagram. Take one end of the Composite cable:
Attach the red and white ends to the Audio Out ports on the back your Motorola Set Top Box. Leave yellow unattached.
Attach the other end of the Composite Cable to the Audio In ports on back of the DVD/R. Once again, leave yellow unattached.
Note: There are two sets of red and white Audio Out ports on back of the Set Top Box. Choose either. Also, there may be slight variations on how the Audio In ports are labeled on back of the DVD/R, (Audio Input, AV In) but they are likely color coded in the same manner as on your Set Top Box.
HDMI Cable
3. HDMI cable runs between the DVD Recorder and TV above diagram.
Attach one end of the HDMI cable to the HDMI Out port on back of the DVD/R.
Attach other end to the HDMI In port on back of the TV.

PVR: Bell Aliant offers PVR, (Personal Video Recorder) that greatly simplifies the task of recording TV. Contact us at 1-866-425-4268.
In the cabling scenario explained above, HDMI cable is used to "up convert" the TV signal feeding out of the DVD/R into the TV. It is not directly connected to the Set Top Box. HDMI is used this way to deliver a better quality audio and video signal than can be achieved using S Video and Composite cables.

above cabling set up and are experiencing video and audio issues, please
