What is voicemail
Get your messages by phone or by email anytime, anywhere.
With voicemail you can:
- Have your messages sent to your email inbox.
- Check your messages using a Touch-Tone phone.
- Get notified when you have a new message.
Set up your voiceimail
- From home, dial *99. If away from home, call 310-MAIL (6245). When prompted for your mailbox number, enter your 10-digit home phone number.
Note: If you’re a business customer, dial your phone number and press 5 when you hear your greeting.
- When prompted to enter a temporary password, enter your 7-digit phone number (no area code).
- Follow the prompts to change the temporary password to a new one. It should be 4 to 15 digits and cannot start with 0.
- Follow the prompts to record your name or phone number as a personal identification.
- Follow the prompts to record a personal greeting, or select the pre-recorded greeting, that callers will hear.
- Press the * key to exit. Your voicemail is now activated.
Good to know
- Avoid passwords that are too simple, such as 1234 or the last four digits of your phone number.
- Regularly change your password to prevent unauthorized access to your voicemail. Do not disclose your password to anyone.
- If you lose or forget your password, you can contact us to reset it.
Turn the message waiting indicator on or off
A stuttered dial tone and a blinking or solid message light are indicators that you have a voicemail message waiting to be retrieved.
If you're experiencing issues with these indicators or you wish to change their settings, follow the steps below:
- Access your voicemail (*99).
- Press 4 for personal options.
- Press 1 for call notification.
- Press 1 to turn call notification on or off.
Get your voicemail messages by phone
You can check your messages from any Touch-Tone phone:
- From your home: Dial *99
- In Atlantic Canada: Dial 310-MAIL (6245)
- In Canada: Dial 1 888 576-0033
- Anywhere in the world: Dial your home phone number and press 5 when you hear your voicemail greeting
Get your voicemail messages by email
You can listen to your message using the audio attachment sent to your email inbox.
To set up voicemail to email:
- Log in to the voicemail-to-email service
- Scroll down and click on Voicemail-to-Email on the right side of the page. A login page appears
- Enter your 10-digit phone number and voicemail password. This is the same password you use to access your voicemail by phone. Once complete, click Login. The Welcome screen appears.
- If this is your first time in the Voicemail-to-Email web portal and you wish to get an email each time you have a voicemail message, click on Options and then Notification Options. Notification options appear.
- Choose one of the three options under Select an email option. Descriptions of each are provided onscreen. Enter the email address where you want receive your messages. Once complete, click Save and choose Miscellaneous Options in upper left of screen.
- Set your desired miscellaneous options. Descriptions of each are provided onscreen. Once complete, click on Security Options and then Challenge Questions. You’re prompted to create security questions (if you forget your password or have failed login attempts).
- Choose questions from the menu and provide the corresponding answers. Once complete, click Save. You’re now ready to receive your messages via phone and email.
