Set up my email address using Windows Mail

If you'd like to send and receive Bell Aliant email using the Windows Live Mail email program, we can help you set it up. You simply need to add our email settings into your email program.

To set up your email:

  1. Click the Start Menu and Windows Mail.
  2. On the Select Account type screen select E-mail Account.
  3. Click Next.
  4. On the Your Name screen, enter the name you want to display on your outgoing emails and click Next.
  5. Enter your Bell Aliant email address, e.g, and click Next.
  6. Enter the following in the the Set up e-mail servers screen:
    • Incoming e-mail server type: POP
    • Incoming mail (POP3 or IMAP) server:
    • Outgoing e-mail server (SMTP) name:
    • If there is no checkmark in the Outgoing server requires authentication box, click it.Click Next.
  7. Click Next.
  8. On the Internet mail logon screen enter the following
    • E-mail username: enter your Bell Aliant email address, e.g.,
    • Password: Your Bell Aliant email password. 
    • To save your email password, click Remember password
  9. Click Next.
  10. Click Finish on the congratulations screen.
  11. Click Properties on the Accounts screen.
  12. Click Settings on the Servers tab.
  13. If Use same settings as my incoming mail server is not selected, click it.
  14. Click on the Advanced tab.
  15. Enter 2225 in the Outgoing mail (SMTP): field.
  16. Click Apply.
  17. Click OK.
