How to retrieve content from file vaults

File vaults are no longer part of Bell Aliant Internet Security. You can still recover your files locked in vaults created with older versions.

  1. Double-click the bdfvcl file in the folder C:\Program Files\Bell\Bell.
  2. Select Yes if presented with the User Account Control dialog box.
  3. Click the three dots next to the Select vault file field.
  4. Locate the desired vault file, select it, then click Open.
  5. In the Type vault password field, enter the password you chose when you created this vault.
  6. Click the three dots next to the Select destination directory field. In the pop-up window, select the folder where you want to extract the contents of the vault. Click OK to confirm.
  7. Click Export to extract the vault files to the specified folder. The process is complete when you see the message, “Transfer finalized” at the bottom of the log.
  8. A message appears if Window Explorer windows are open. Click OK if it appears.
  9. The file transfer process starts. If a message about a legacy File Vault driver appears, click No.
  10. A “Transfer finalized” message appears at the bottom of the log indicating that the transfer is complete.
