Set up and use voicemail (including voicemail to email)

What is voicemail?

Get your messages by phone or by email anytime, anywhere.

 

With voicemail you can:

  • Have your messages sent to your email inbox.
  • Check your messages using a Touch-Tone phone.
  •  Get notified when you have a new message.

Get your voicemail messages by phone

You can check your messages from any Touch-Tone phone:

  • From your home: Dial *99
  • In Atlantic Canada: Dial 310-MAIL (6245)
  • In Canada: Dial 1 888 576-0033
  • Anywhere in the world: Dial your home phone number and press 5 when you hear your voicemail greeting

Get your voicemail messages by email

You can listen to your message using the audio attachment sent to your email inbox.

To set up voicemail to email:

  1. Log in to the voicemail-to-email service
  2. Scroll down and click on Voicemail-to-Email on the right side of the page. A login page appears
  3. Enter your 10-digit phone number and voicemail password. This is the same password you use to access your voicemail by phone. Once complete, click Login. The Welcome screen appears.
  4. If this is your first time in the Voicemail-to-Email web portal and you wish to get an email each time you have a voicemail message, click on Options and then Notification Options. Notification options appear.
  5. Choose one of the three options under Select an email option. Descriptions of each are provided onscreen. Enter the email address where you want receive your messages. Once complete, click Save and choose Miscellaneous Options in upper left of screen.
  6. Set your desired miscellaneous options. Descriptions of each are provided onscreen. Once complete, click on Security Options and then Challenge Questions. You’re prompted to create security questions (if you forget your password or have failed login attempts).
  7. Choose questions from the menu and provide the corresponding answers. Once complete, click Save. You’re now ready to receive your messages via phone and email.

Other voicemail options

Change the number of rings

  1. Dial *94 and listen for 3 beeps.
  2. Enter how many times the phone should ring before voicemail picks up (0 to 9).
  3. Listen for two confirmation beeps, like a busy signal.
  4. Hang up.

Change your personal greeting

  1. Dial *99.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Respond to the voice prompts by pressing 4, 3, 1, 2.
  4. Record your greeting.
  5. Press #.

Change your pre-recorded name or phone number

  1. Dial *99.
  2. Enter your password.
  3. Respond to the voice prompts by pressing 4, 3, 3.
  4. Record the new name.
  5. Press #.

Change your password

  1. Dial *99.
  2. Enter your current password.
  3. Respond to the voice prompts by pressing 4, 2, 1.
  4. Enter your new password.
  5. Press #.

Skip to the end of your message

Press 3, 3 to skip to the end of the message. Then you can reply, forward, erase or save.

Fast forward the message by 10 seconds

Press 3 while listening to a message to fast forward the message by 10 seconds.

Start message over

Press 1, 1 while listening to a message to return to its beginning.

Rewind the message by 10

Press 1 while listening to a message to rewind the message by 10 seconds

Know who called and when

Press 5 during playback or at the end of the message for the time, date, length of message and caller's number (if available).

Forward the message

Press 6 to forward a message.

Delete the message

Press 7 to delete a message.
